Michael D. Goodman

Michael Duane Goodman, age 51, of Osceola passed away Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born Jan. 2, 1972, to the late William Edgar and Doris J. (Berry) Goodman in South Bend, Indiana.

Surviving are Michael’s two children Mikalyn (Tye Cheney) Goodman and Michael J.A. Goodman, both of Osceola; two siblings, Zelma May Frye, and Kenny Goodman, and a very special cousin who was also one his very best friends, Leslie Berry. He was beyond excited to become a grandpa for the first time in December. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Susan Goodman-Wilkin, and sister-in-law Chris Goodman.

Michael happily served as a maintenance technician at his apartment complex in Osceola and was so handy he could fix anything! He loved helping others and built many lasting friendships by sharing stories and relating to others through common experiences. Michael was an avid fan of the Michigan Wolverines and loved to cheer on his team and give his family a hard time about their loyalty to “Michigan’s rival team.”

His selflessness showed even after his passing as his last wishes were to be an organ donor to continue to help others.  By becoming a Donor Hero, Michael’s gift of life will allow others to live fully, and his legacy will live on through his generosity and gift of life.

Michael will be remembered for his ability to talk to almost anyone, his fantastic sense of humor and kindness to others.  He was proud to have the opportunity to teach his kids to serve others as well and often took them with him on projects to lead by example.

Michael’s family has chosen cremation and have planned a Celebration of Michael’s life for 1:00 pm Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Cruz Family Funeral Home.  Friends may gather two hours prior to the funeral.  In lieu of flowers and to honor Michael’s life memorial contributions may to be sent to Cruz Family Funeral Home through the donations tab above to assist with funeral expenses or to the Indiana Donor Network.
