Milton “Gene” Peters, age 58 of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Hospice Home on Homestead Road. Gene was born May 28, 1960 in Vanceboro, North Carolina to the late George Jr. and Nancy Annette (Lewis) Peters. Following High School, Gene enlisted in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1978. On March 16, 1985, Gene married the love of his life, Sandra Lee Sample. Sandra preceded him in death on November 10, 2011, and life was never the same for Gene.
He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Sara Kinney and Ian Howard of Fort Wayne, his grandchild Kendrick Howard, and his siblings Ann Jones and her husband Jeff of Osceola and Althea McIntosh of Elkhart. Surviving as well is his Uncle, John Peters of Garrett, Indiana, his Aunt, Kathy Peters and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Gene will be cremated and a celebration of his life will be held at a later time at his Sister’s home in Osceola. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola is assisting with the arrangements.
We will be having a Military Service at the graveside for Gene to be placed next to his beloved Sandy in April in Columbia City at Nolt Cemetery on April 28, 2019 at 2:00 pm with the help of Cruz Family Funeral Home,VFW and the Patriot Guard Riders. Plan to arrive on half hour prior to the service.

Gene was employed by Trelle Borg of New Haven, Indiana as a screw machine operator for several years. He enjoyed Colts Football and “CSI” types of shows on TV. He also enjoyed going to collectables shows, and was an avid fan of classic rock music, especially AC/DC.
