Mona D. Bush

Mona D. Bush, age 77 of Osceola, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017.  Mona was born May 15, 1939 in South Bend, Indiana.  Following graduation from Mishawaka High School, Mona married Raymond Bush on December 15, 1956.  He preceded her in death, passing away in 2012.

Surviving are her children Raymond Bush Jr. of Mishawaka, Tami (Todd) Carter-Wisniewski of South Bend, and Steve (Lori) Bush of Osceola.  Surviving as well are her sisters Barbara Evans of Georgia, Sue Hendrickson of Texas, Joy Anderson and Mary Walters, both of Florida.  Mona is survived as well by 5 grandchildren; Christopher (Lindsey) Bush, Heather Bush, Amiee Carter, Steve (Nikki) Bush Jr. and Dustin (Elizabeth) Bush and 8 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her father Herschell Shalley, her mother and step-father Lloyd and Marian Schoof, and her brother Tom “Curley” Shalley.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Monday, May 15, 2017 with funeral services following at 7:00 pm at Cruz Family Funeral Home, 1109 Lincolnway West, Osceola.  Interment will be private in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Mona was employed for many years as a custodian at Bittersweet Elementary School.  She enjoyed spending time reading, cooking and doing crossword puzzles.  Mona also enjoyed volunteering her time at day care and attending Bible study. Most of all, she enjoyed taking her dog “Scrappy” for daily walks around her neighborhood.
