Elkhart

Nancy Eileen Holsinger, 80, of Elkhart entered heavenly rest on Monday, July 1, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 27, 1944, in Goshen to the late Glen and Nina (Gilbert) Rummel. She later married Thomas James who preceded her in death on October 12, 2018.

Surviving are her children, Steve (Jayne) Holbert of Elkhart, Tracy Lynn Holsinger of Elkhart, Douglas (Jeri) Holbert of Elkhart, and Terri (David) Watson of Constantine, MI, a brother Jerry (Jeannie) Rummel of Goshen, and sister Carol Bowman of Elkhart. 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren also survive. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Jo Russell, and a brother Glen “Butch” Rummel, and grandson, Austin Miller. Her beloved dog Indigo “Indy” was also by her side when she passed, and  was Nancy’s constant companion, even going shopping with her.

Nancy had a passion for deep cleaning and meticulously taking care of her yard. Her dedication even brought her to the point of climbing into the rafters of her cabin to dust and clean every inch of her living space. Nancy also loved hunting and cooking, relishing the opportunity to prepare meals and spend time in her log cabin in Georgia, a picturesque retreat nestled on 27 acres of land. She enjoyed boating on Lake Michigan and later in Panama City, savoring the beauty of the water. Nancy also had a strong traditional faith that guided her through life, providing strength and comfort. Her life was a tapestry of cherished moments in nature, engaging in hobbies she loved, and sharing her joy with those around her.

A time to visit with the family and celebrate a wonderful life lived is scheduled for Wednesday, July 10th from 11am to 1pm, with a service beginning at 1pm. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
