Patricia Elaine Eller, age 77 of Elkhart, went to be with the Lord on March 10, 2024. Pat was born May 8, 1946, in Elkhart, Indiana to the late Mearl and Myrtle Marie (Lechlitner) Detwiler. On August 24, 2002, she married Gene Eller in Elkhart, Indiana.
Gene survives, along with Pat’s children Patrick Beatty of Ohio and Lisa (Harold) Richardson of South Bend. Surviving as well is her granddaughter, Sarah Beatty and her sister Phyllis Smoker, along with her aunt, Flora Jane Christophel. Pat is also survived by her special cousin, Rebecca (Lon) Redman of Sequin, Washington, and several nieces and nephews who were dear to her; Maryann (Clif) Moser, Tim Detwiler, Jenny (Ken) Duffin-Alexander, Brad Smoker and Erin Smoker. Her brother, Larry E. Detwiler and brother-in-law Richard Smoker preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Osceola United Methodist Church with funeral services to follow at 4pm. Pat will be laid to rest in Prairie Street Cemetery on Monday, March 18, 2024. Cruz Family Funeral Home of Osceola has been entrusted with her arrangements.
Pat earned her master’s degree in elementary education from Indiana University of South Bend and taught for several years in the Elkhart Community School system before taking a position with the Division of Family Services where she taught parents who were adopting and fostering children.
In her spare time, Pat enjoyed traveling with Gene, especially to Florida, playing cards and reading books. She will also be remembered for her wonderful cooking and caring nature towards others. Pat was a faithful and longtime member of the Osceola United Methodist Church where she was involved in numerous activities throughout the years and had a heart to help others by volunteering her time with the church’s food pantry.
