Patricia “Pattie” Rae (Spaulding) Breen, formerly Swiergosz, entered eternal rest, Monday, March 3, 2025, after a brave fight with cancer. She was born in Toledo, OH to Wesley and Evon (Myers) Spauling on Oct. 24, 1955, and later married Stephen Breen.
Along with Stephen and Evon, Pattie leaves behind her children, James (Bailey) Morgart, Michael (Sarah) Swiergosz, Stephen (Grace) Swiergosz, all of Elkhart, Robert Swiergosz of Mishawaka, and Sarah (Joseph) Vasquez of Ft. Wayne, 6 grandchildren, and siblings Paul (Linda) Spaulding of Weston, OH, Thomas Spaulding of Edwardsburg, MI, Susan Warner, and Nick Warner, both of Toledo, OH.
Pattie was best known as a loving mother and grandmother, finding her greatest joy in creating special moments with her family. She especially loved decorating for Christmas, turning her home into a festive wonderland, and preparing lavish meals that brought everyone together around the table. Her warmth and creativity made every gathering memorable.
Although Pattie spent over 10 years as a teaching aide at John Adams High School in South Bend, her heart was always with her family. Beyond her loved ones, she had a deep appreciation for nature and wildlife, spending hours watching live streams of Alaskan bears and collecting stuffed teddy bears as cherished keepsakes. She also had a passion for dance, dedicating countless hours to perfecting ballroom routines. A devoted fan of Shirley Temple, she adored watching her movies and often tried to imitate her graceful dance moves. Pattie’s love, creativity, and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
In accordance with Pattie’s wishes, cremation has taken place with a time to celebrate her life scheduled for Saturday, March 15, at the Church of the Latter-day Saints Church, 930 Park Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545 at 1:00 pm with a private family meal and a time of sharing memories to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Riley’s Children Hospital, or to the family to assist in final expenses.
