Paul Rex Juday, 71, of Osceola, entered into final rest on October 1 ,2023 at the Ernestine M. Raclin House at the Center for Hospice in Mishawaka, surrounded by his loving family.
Paul was born on July 24, 1952, in South Bend, IN to Rex and Rhea (Warner) Juday. On November 25, 1971, he married the love of his life, Karen Ann Rice. She survives along with her son, Benjamin (Rebecca) Juday of Baltimore, OH; granddaughters, Amelia and Sophia; and siblings, Marilyn Weltmer of Gerrardstown, WV, Carol Titus of Kenai, AK; Robert Juday of Everett, PA; Susan Kidder of Soldotna, AK; John Juday of Osceola, IN; Roy Sam of Edgewood, NM and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Paul loved spoiling his two granddaughters, who were the light of his life, as well as his dogs through the years, Branson, Sadie and Rowdy. Though he worked many years in the steel industry, his real talent lay in working with wood; be it making furniture, turning bowls or doing wood carving. He was a talented artist who donated his talents to the community as well as to many others. He and Karen’s biggest project was tearing down, moving and rebuilding an 1840’s log house that was to become their family home for most of their married life, fulfilling their wish of their dream house. Throughout the years he enjoyed many hobbies, from hunting and fishing, visiting old cemeteries, Civil War reenacting, antiquing and metal detecting. As his health declined, he still found joy in singing and whistling along with his favorite songs and playing cards with cherished family and friends. Despite great suffering, he always had a smile on his face.
The family would like to thank the many family members, friends, doctors, hospital staff and especially the angels at the Center for Hospice, for their loving and compassionate care.
If you would wish to make a memorial to Paul, donations to the Center for Hospice Care at 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545, would be greatly appreciated. Paul’s wishes for cremation and no service or fuss made will be honored. He asked to be remembered with a smile and a story or two.
