Phyllis L. White, age 92, of Osceola, formerly of South Bend, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Eastlake Nursing Home in Elkhart following several months of illness. She was born April 10, 1922 to the late William H. and Sarah (Shulmier) Edwards in Goshen, Indiana. After the death of her mother, she was raised by her step-mother Emma Schrock Pfeiffer Edwards. On December 23, 1939, she married Charles William White. He preceded her in death, passing away in April of 2000. Also preceding Phyllis in death were her brothers Chester and Raymond Edwards, and 4 sisters Bernice Kime, Beulah Keyser, Mayetta Olman, and Dorothy Sperry. She is survived by 2 sons, Larry (Sue) White of Goshen and Charles (JoAnn) White of Bristol, and one daughter, Peggy Shaffer of Hebron, Indiana. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren; Deb (Condy) Cupp, Kim (Scott) Cronin, Bobbi (Joe) Carper, Cindi Davy Ann Thornton, Larry Lemke, and Lisa (Steve) Krieg, 18 great grandchildren, and one great-great- grandchild. Services will be private. Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home of Osceola is assisting with arrangements. Interment will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola with her grandchildren Deb & Condy Cupp, Kim & Scott Cronin, and Bobbi & Joe Carper serving as pallbearers. The White family wishes not to see Phyllis lying still with her eyes closed, but wishes to celebrate her always present smile and her hugs. They also wish to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Elkhart County Hospice and Eastlake Nursing Home for their care and concern during Phyllis' illness. In her memory, the family requests no flowers.
