Richard R. Stoll

April 23, 1947 — December 11, 2020

Osceola

Richard R. Stoll, age 73 of Osceola, went to be with his Lord and Savior while surrounded by his family on December 11, 2020.  Rick was born April 23, 1947 in Pennsylvania to the late R. Robert and Margaret E. Stoll.  Following his high school graduation Rick attended college for a short time before enlisting in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.  While serving, Rick was stationed on an aircraft carrier where he loaded ammunition and maintained the ship.   On December 18, 1999 he married Elizabeth K. Eminger in Mishawaka, Indiana.  They were set to celebrate their 21st anniversary next week.

Elizabeth survives, along with his son Robert “Robbie” Stoll and his daughters Jennifer (David) Kaplachinski and Katie (Dan) Weiss, both of Mishawaka.  Surviving as well are his grandchildren whom he adored immensely, Ellie and Olivia Kaplachinski and Hanah and David Weiss.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gary Stoll.

Due to the current pandemic, Rick requested that a celebration of his life be held privately.  Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola is assisting with the arrangements.

Rick was employed for many years in quality control with Gulf Stream Motor Coach in Elkhart before retiring in 2006.  In his spare time, Rick enjoyed playing golf and riding his motorcycle.  Rick also loved a wide variety of new foods and enjoyed introducing others to new experiences while dining out.  He was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a die-hard fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers football team.

He was a proud veteran and loved his country beyond measure.  He served the Lord faithfully and attended Gospel City Church for many years. While attending Gospel City, he spent many Sundays as an usher where he could meet and talk to others attending.

Most of all, Rick loved his family and his grandchildren. He knew no strangers and his heart to serve others was obvious in his day to day interactions with people he’d meet.  Joy and laughter were an enormous part of his personality and his wit and humor will be forever missed.
