Robert Scott Simper, age 66 of Osceola, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Elkhart General Hospital.  Scott was born June 14, 1952 in Elkhart, Indiana to Robert and Mary E. (Ernsberger) Simper. Scott was preceded in death by his parents and his special nephews Matthew and Joseph Simper.

Following graduation from Penn High School, Scott attended Ball State University.  On June 28, 1974, he married the former Miss Cindy Rinehold in Mishawaka, Indiana.

Cindy survives, along with their children Tessa (Denny) Trigg of Goshen, Indiana, Ian (Christine) Simper of Granger, Indiana and JD Simper of Osceola.  Surviving as well are his grandchildren Mia, Ethan, & Ella Simper and Delaney, Drew & Chase Trigg.  Scott is also survived by his siblings Kathy (George) Bogart of South Bend, Indiana, Beth Simper of Maryland, and Dave (Christine) Simper of Elkhart, Indiana.  Scott is survived as well by his brother-in-law Jeff Rinehold, whom he considered a brother, and his best friend Jim “Catfish” Lebiedzinski.  Scott will be fondly remembered by all his nieces and nephews as their “Favorite Uncle.”

Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Monday, February 4, 2019 at Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola, with funeral services to follow at 7:00 pm.  Cremation will follow and Scott will be laid to rest at a later date.

Scott was employed for nineteen years in machine maintenance with Whitehall, and later worked for Associates and Curtis Products before retiring at the age of 62.  He was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox, Notre Dame, and the Chicago Bears, and would often watch the games alone, in order to yell at his teams!

Most of all, Scott will be remembered for his love of his family and friends.  He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports and loved spending time with each of them.

In his memory, donations may be made in memory of his father to the American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.  Online condolences may be written to the family by following the links on the “Tribute Wall” tab above.
