Roberta Joanne (Yoder) Scheittecatte

Roberta Joanne (Yoder) Scheittecatte, 81, of Osceola entered heavenly rest on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born in Elkhart on Dec. 21, 1942, to the late Harold Tom and Zelma Irene (Paulas) Yoder and later married Roy Scheittecatte, on August 28, 1966, who preceded her in death.

Surviving is their son, Devon (Darsha) Scheittecatte of Osceola; five grandchildren, Nicholas (Crystal) Scheittecatte of Osceola, Jessica (Wes) Kuespert of Mishawaka, Jamielynn (Dennis) Scherer, Casey (Mollie) Scheittecatte, and Kaytlyn (Mallory) Scheittecatte, all of Elkhart and 16 great grandchildren; her sister, Connie Young, of Mishawaka also survives. Roberta was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Wegnerowski.

Roberta dedicated over 12 years of her life as a caregiver and educator at Noah’s Ark Daycare, where she found joy in nurturing and guiding children. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of reading and solving word searches, as well as tending to her beloved garden and visiting numerous garage sales in the warmer months. Yet, her most cherished moments were spent hosting family cookouts during the summer holidays, where she poured her heart into creating cherished memories and spoiling her grandchildren with love and affection.

Cremation has taken place and a time to celebrate her life is scheduled for Friday, March 15th, from 1-2 with a service beginning at 2pm. Brandon Cruz to officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to honor Roberta can be made to the American Cancer Society or the St. Joseph County Humane Society.
