Ronald Frederick Becker, Lt. Col., USAF (Ret.), age 82, formerly of San Antonio, Texas, went to be with the Lord on March 5, 2025, at his home in Goshen, Indiana, with his loving wife and family by his side.
Ron was born on January 9, 1943, in Olean, New York, to the late Donald and Dorothy Becker. While enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, he met Edna Mae Murray, and they fell in love. The two were married in June of 1970, beginning a lifelong journey as best friends and partners. Over their 56 years of marriage, they were inseparable—playing golf together, traveling the world, and even spending several years living abroad in Bosnia.
Ron served his country with honor in the United States Air Force, retiring as a highly decorated Lieutenant Colonel following Operation Desert Storm in 1996. During his military career, he also earned a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement. While stationed in San Antonio, he served as a Sergeant and worked in the undercover crimes unit with the San Antonio Police Department for many years. His expertise in law enforcement led him to a position in security for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and later to an assignment with the United Nations Security Team, continuing his lifelong commitment to service.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Edna Mae Becker; his two sons; Donnie and Stephen and three grandchildren: Aaron Becker, Hillaree (George) Biddlecome, and Harrison (Taylor) Farrell. He also leaves behind three cherished great-granddaughters: Libbie Mae, Charlie Dee, and Ginnie Max Biddlecome. He was preceded in death by his grandson Hollister Farrell and great-grandson George Jerry.
In his spare time, Ron enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons. A man of deep faith, he served as a Deacon in his church and was always eager to help others. He was a hardworking provider, a devoted family man, and was always fun to be around. Duty, Honor, and Faith were the cornerstones of his life.
Friends may visit with the family one hour before the Celebration of Life at 4:00 PM on Friday, March 14, 2025. Military honors will be rendered, and Ron will be laid to rest in the San Antonio National Cemetery at a later date.
