Osceola

Ronald “Ron” D. Golden, 85, of Osceola entered heavenly rest on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Morgantown, WV on April 6, 1938, to the late Zygmond Frank and Rosa (Selak) Golden. Shortly after high school graduation, Ron married his neighborhood crush, Mary Catlett on August 31, 1957, in Star City, WV.

Weeks into their marriage, Ron proudly served the United States Air Force for eight years, before finally moving to Indiana to be a manual draftsman, doing land surveying, for many of the local residential subdivisions in the Michiana area. Ron retired after 45 years of service to his community.

Surviving Ron, are his wife and their three children; Sharon  R. (Randy) Petersen, Melanie K. Worthman, and Athena R. (John) Johnson, all of Mishawaka; five grandchildren, Ryan (Shannon) Petersen, Angelica (J) Aquila, Joshua (Amanda) Worthman, Ashley Johnson Theirin, and Brittany Johnson; four great-grandchildren, Eli and Isaac Aquila, Orrin Petersen, and Emma Worthman; a brother, Larry (Ginger) Golden, sister-in-law, Debra Catlett Bruner, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Robert Johnson.

Ron's commitment to serving his community extended far beyond his roles as a draftsman and Air Force veteran. Known for his kindness, Ron dedicated his time to assisting neighbors by tending to their lawns with his trusty tractor. He also volunteered with hospice, offering comfort and companionship to those in need. Ron's selflessness was recognized with the honor of receiving a Quilt of Valor. In his leisure, Ron found joy in golfing and embarking on historical journeys across the United States alongside his beloved wife, Mary. Together, were able to visit iconic locations such as the Oregon Trail, Grand Canyon Railway, and Kitty Hawk. Above all, Ron's devotion to family was unwavering. He prioritized attending every event to support his loved ones, showering them with unconditional love and encouragement. Ron's legacy of service, compassion, and love will forever remain etched in the hearts of those he touched.

A time to honor and remember Ron's life will be held on April 27, 2024, from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a brief service at 11 a.m. Cremation has taken place according to the wishes of his family.
