Sandra “Sandy” L. Greenwood, 76, of Cassopolis, MI entered heavenly rest Sunday, November 24, 2024, with family by her side. She was born October 5, 1948 in Mishawaka to the late Billy and Dorothy (Campbell) Bird and later married Loren “Butch” Greenwood in October 1968, celebrating 56 years of marriage before her passing.
Surviving are their children, Loree Greenwood of Cassopolis and Chris (Marcia) Greenwood of South Bend, three grandchildren Connor, Cassidy (Tyler Knapp), and Melanie. Her Aunts Geri and Roberta, niece, Venus (Sam) Carter, and cousin, Peg Sampson are also left behind. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sher.
Sandy was a vibrant and loving soul whose joy for life was evident in everything she did. She shared a deep bond with her husband, Butch, and they spent many happy evenings dancing together, often six or seven nights a week. A devoted fan of Elvis, Sandy also found joy in the simple pleasures of life—reading, cooking, playing cards, and cherishing time spent with family and friends. Her grace and elegance were unmatched; she never left the house without her lipstick, nail polish, and earrings, often saying she would feel "naked" without them. Sandy’s warmth, kindness, and lively spirit touched the hearts of everyone she met, leaving behind memories that will be treasured forever by all who knew and loved her.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place with a private family celebration scheduled for the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Center for Hospice Care.
