Scott Calvin Barner

Scott Calvin Barner, age 82 of Mishawaka, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Grand Emerald Place Assisted Living Center in South Bend.   Scott was born January 23, 1935 in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania to the late Calvin and Nancy Barner.  Following his high school graduation, Scott enlisted in the US Navy in 1952 and served honorably until his discharge in 1956.  While in the Navy, he married Yvonne Brown.  Yvonne preceded him in death, passing away in 1994.

Surviving are his children Scott E. (Judy Powell) Barner of Elkhart and Kathryn (Ron) Carlson of Mishawaka. Also surviving is his brother Richard (Judy) Barner, 9 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his son Terry L. Barner and his sister JoAnn Odynski.

Visitation will be held from 3-6 pm Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Osceola.  Funeral services will be held at 1pm Monday, January 22, 2018 at Cruz Family Funeral Home with interment and Military Honors to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.

Scott was employed as a brake repairman with the New York Central Railroad Line, retiring at the age of 59.  He was a hard worker and a proud Veteran.
