Shirley Drinkall, age 89, passed away at 11:00 p.m. at Dujarie House at Holy Cross on Saturday, March 12, 2022. She was born on August 11, 1932 and was the only child of Carl and Dorothy Troup. On July 15, 1955, she married Thomas Drinkall. Mom and Dad were able to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary prior to Dad’s passing on September 23, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law and mother-in-law William and Ruby Drinkall, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Durene Jorgensen, a niece, Diane Trost, her cousin, Betty Dickison (who was like a sister to her), and one of her best friends, Barbara Emmert.
She is survived by her children, Cris Emmert (Mike), Lorie Drinkall, Pam Alexander (Claude), and Tim Drinkall (Ulrika). Grandchildren: Brian Weaver, Derek Weaver, Becky Wachs, Trisha Taylor, Amanda Hugghins, Kate Perigo, Ben Bachman, Oliver Drinkall, William Drinkall, and Gabriel Drinkall; 13 great grandchildren with one more due in August; and a nephew, Les Jorgensen.
Mom was a very kind and loving person who loved her family very much. She loved spending time at Birch Lake in the summer and also loved an occasional glass of Moscato wine. She had a great sense of humor, loved to shop, enjoyed wearing lots of jewelry (bling), travelling, enjoyed music, eating out at restaurants, liked to cut articles out of the newspaper like it was her job (which she would then mail to family members and friends), completing two word search puzzles per day, and enjoyed telling her friends “Don’t take any wooden nickels!”.
She was a longtime member of Prince of Peace church since 1964 and was the church secretary there for 12 years after her children were grown.
We would like to thank the staff at Dujarie House at Holy Cross for taking such great care of Mom during her short visit there.
Mom’s viewing and service will be at the Cruz Family Funeral Home in Osceola on Saturday, March 19, 2022. The viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and the service to follow. She will be laid to rest next to Dad at West Goshen Cemetery.
