Shirley Mae Ford, age 84, of Mishawaka, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025. She was born on December 30, 1940, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to John and Patience (Buckheister) Ford.

She is survived by her son, Randy Dobrodt (Dana) of Mishawaka; stepdaughters Monica Williams-Fortuna, Michelle Alter, and Gina Snyder; grandchildren Niccolas Elliott, Cidney Callahan (Tyler), Elyona Dobrodt, and Colten Dobrodt; step-grandchildren Billy Alter, Josh Alter, and Jennifer (Josh) Myers; and great-grandchildren Jack, Koda, and Rhys. She is also survived by her sister Sharon Wiseman and nieces Kathy (Keith) Orbin and Lori New.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; daughters Sherry Dobrodt-Elliot and Rebecca Joan Nicolas; brother Gary Ford; stepson Mike Snyder (Ushi); grandson Patrick Dobrodt; and granddaughter Rayna Dobrodt.

Shirley began working at a young age at her father’s Twin Branch General Merchandise store and later at the Twin Branch Root Beer Stand. She was also employed by Siemens Company for many years. One of Shirley’s proudest accomplishments was earning her GED in 2010.

She enjoyed playing dice and card games with family and friends around her kitchen table. Known for her quick wit, Shirley often used sayings like “How much?”, “Gizzards,” “The bigger the butt, the better the seat—so eat up, kid,” and “I love you bushels and pecks.” She was famously “forever 25 years old” and welcomed everyone to her table for a cup of coffee and conversation.

Later in life, when she could no longer crochet, Shirley enjoyed word searches while savoring Martin’s fried chicken and a slice of pie. Most importantly, Shirley accepted the Lord as her personal Savior in her 70s.

Her family invites you to a Celebration of Life open house, 3-6 pm, February 9, 2025, in The Moat room at Baugo Creek Park (2nd floor) 57057 Ash Road, Osceola, IN 46561. A moment of reflection will be held at 4:00 pm.
