Shirley Mae Thomas, 60 was born to the late Charles Ed and Frankie Lee Lemons on September 23, 1959 in Covington, Tennessee. Shirley was the second oldest of seven children born to that union.
Shirley married Jerry Lee Thomas in 1982 and together four children were born. Shirley was always a cheerful person who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need Shirley was an excellent co worker and friend, she will always be remembered for her giving heart and her beautiful smile. Shirley gave her life to Christ and was baptized at the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day Saints. Shirley loved her family and loved visiting her mother’s house where you could find many of her family member’s over for a visit also, but her biggest joy in life came from being a grandmother, Shirley simply adored her grandchildren.
Shirley leaves to cherish her memories three children; Desi Thomas, Lykecha Thomas and Lytrecha Thomas all of Elkhart, 17 grandchildren also four great grandchildren, sisters Lula(James) Williams, Diane Lemons, and Virginia(Robert) Jackson all of Elkhart. Two brothers, Charles Lemons Jr. and Kevin Dewayne Lemons, both of Elkhart. Shirley was preceded in death by her father Charles Ed Lemons Sr., her husband Jerry Lee Thomas, her sister Flora Diane and her son Reshawn Thomas
Shirley worked for many years as a nurses attendant at Fountain view nursing home, now known as Golden Living Center, she later moved on to work for Switch Systems retiring when her health began to fail. Some of Shirley’s favorite past times were selling Avon, chatting online and shopping. Shirley attended Elkhart public Schools, and was also a member of the Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Samuel F. Frison.
There will be one hour of visitation prior to the 1:00 pm funeral service on Friday, August 7, 2020 at Cruz Family Funeral Home, 1109 Lincolnway West, Osceola, Indiana.
