Sue K. Shields, age 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at her home in Mishawaka. Jake and Sue celebrated 40 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in August of 2003.

Surviving as well are her grandchildren DaLynn (Nick) Jones, Austin Clingenpeel, and Alysha (Colin) Pestow and her great-grandchildren Laila, Grace, Adalynn, Lilyanna, Alyjah and Ezra. Her great granddaughter Daysi preceded her in death.

Pastors Jeremy LeVan and Karleen Hallock will officiate Sue's service immediately following the visitation at 7 pm. Sue will be laid to rest with her husband Jake at 12:00 pm Monday, June 13, 2022, in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Those attending the graveside committal are asked to arrive at Cruz Family Funeral Home at 12pm Monday in order to follow in procession to the Cemetery for the graveside committal service. A livestream of her service will begin just prior to 7pm and may be viewed by clicking the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xg4IDTpnogY&ab_channel=EpicChurchMishawaka
Sue was employed at the US Navy Exchange for many years before taking a position with Crown International soldering components for speakers until her retirement at the age of 65. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing BINGO, gardening, playing games on her computer and tablet, playing cards with her family and friends, eating out at local restaurants, riding along with her daughter Michele to gather scrap materials, and in her younger years, riding her motorcycle. More than anything, Sue loved being a mother, Grandma, and “G.G.” to her children and grandchildren. They were the joy of her life.
She was the daughter of a preacher, and her love for Jesus was unwavering. Her strong faith in the Lord and her example of a Godly woman helped plant the seed of faith in others. Her care and concern for others as well as her own family was genuine, and Sue fulfilled the role of “prayer warrior” for her entire family and friends. Sue was also a faithful member of EPIC Church in Mishawaka and she enjoyed sitting at the exit of the sanctuary each gathering to collect the connection cards and offerings each week. Her smiling face and friendly attitude will be greatly missed as those who attend EPIC will miss her words of encouragement as the leave the building each Sunday.
