Susan Kaye (Updegraff) Hobbs

February 13, 1945 — February 25, 2023

Elkhart

Susan Kay Hobbs, age 78, passed away at her home in Elkhart on Saturday, February 25, 2023.  Only a day before, the love of her life, David Allen Hobbs preceded her in death, and their love for each other continues on in Heaven.  Susan was born February 13, 1945, in Elwood, Indiana to the late Elmer and Dorothy Jane (Disbennett) Updegraff.

Surviving are her children David Allen (Sally) Hobbs Jr. of Lewisburg, Tennessee, Susan (Mike) Sponseller, and Todd (Kimberly) Hobbs, both of Elkhart.  Surviving as well is her sister, Floann Idle, as well as 52 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her daughter Myrna Loy Porter and 10 siblings.

There will be no formal services for Mrs. Hobbs, but her family asks that you honor her memory in your own special way. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola has been entrusted with her care.

Susan spent more than 22 years employed at the Holiday Inn where she served as the Hotel breakfast cook. Susan loved meeting new guests and she truly loved her job.  In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, playing BINGO, and watching movies with her grandchildren.

More than anything, she loved being a dedicated wife and mother and adored her entire family, especially her husband David.

In her memory, donations may be made to CAPS of Elkhart, 1000 W. Hively Avenue, Elkhart, Indiana 46517.  To light a virtual candle, share a story of Susan’s life, or leave a message of comfort for her family, please follow the links provided on the tribute wall tab above.
