Timothy Earl DeVan, Sr. January 12, 1949 - February 1, 2014 OSCEOLA- Timothy Earl DeVan, Sr., 65, of Osceola, passed away at 6:20 a.m. Saturday February 1, 2014 at his home. He was born January 12, 1949 in South Bend, Indiana to Earl & Margaret (Sexton) DeVan. Surviving is a son, Timothy E. DeVan, Jr. of Osceola, a daughter, Megan (Eugene) Wratten of Indianapolis, IN; 2 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Robert (Jewel) DeVan of Saraland, AL, Chris (Sue) DeVan of Mishawaka; 3 sisters, Jo (Gail Languall) Nemeth of Merrils Inlet, SC, Peggy Clark of South Bend, IN and Mary (Scott) Gritzmaker of Greenville, TN. Tim graduated in the class of 1969 from South Bend Central High School. While still in high school he worked with his father in the family plumbing business, DeVan Plumbing and Heating. With his Dads guidance, he learned to be an excellent plumber and maintaince person. He had worked for Bendix, a Sub Base in Georgia, to his last maintaince job at Conn-Selmer and some in-between. He had a passion for racing, New Paris, Hartford, Winchester and loved to help work on the cars with Denny Nyari. He also loved to listen to talk radio, Mike Savage, Rush and Glen Beck. He could tell you everything they said, such a memory, and his stories of his adventures. Last April he was able to travel to Pigeon Forge, TN and stay in a cabin on a mountain with the family. He so lovingly recalled his time there. Tim also enjoyed building model cars and he loved NASCAR and Indy racing. Tim's life was bigger than a few lines in the paper; he lived loved and was a son-brother-dad like no other. These words could well describe how he was... . "Life's journey is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well preserved body-but rather to skid in sideways totally worn out hollering Holy Crap-What a Ride." The family would like to thank the Center for Hospice Care for their care and honesty. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Center for Hospice Care. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday February 5, 2014 at Mr. G's Lounge in Osceola. Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home is entrusted with the cremation arrangements.
