Tyler R Sawyer, age 19, passed away May 22, 2024, following a tragic auto accident. Tyler was born on June 26, 2004 in Chico, CA, and as an infant moved with his mother Stephanie and twin brother Cory to Sodus MI for the love and support of family. He attended Buchanan Middle and High Schools and later graduated from the Berrien Springs Virtual Academy in 2023. Tyler loved the outdoors and had recently taken a position as a landscaping artist with Creative Landscaping and Design where he proudly put his heart and soul into creating beautifully manicured lawns and gardens for his clients.
He is survived by his birth mother Stephanie Sawyer and Guardian parents Sondra and David Staggs, along with siblings from both families: Cory Sawyer, Loralie Sawyer, Max Sawyer, Kristina Blackmore, Michael (Ariel) Roeder, Erik Gonzalez, Charlie Marotta, Garrett Staggs, Vincent Staggs, Stacey Lowe, and Danesha Lowe along with numerous adored nieces and nephews and honorary brother Hunter Host. Surviving as well are his grandparents Tommy and Toni Joyner, together with his aunts and uncles Shawn (Rose) Sawyer, Evert (Dawn) Riley, Shannon (Eric) Jeffries, Steven Sawyer, and Jervone Wallace. His beloved Aunt Rachel Wallace preceded him in death, and we can only imagine the blessed joy of their reunion.
Tyler's deep love of his cats, his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others defined his true character. His friends and family knew him as someone who was always there, reaching out to ensure they were cared for. His selflessness extended beyond his life, as he was an organ donor hero, giving the gift of life to several others through his final act of generosity.
One of the most significant aspects of Tyler's life was the deep bond he shared - and will always share - with his twin brother Cory. Their connection is extraordinary, built on mutual love, understanding, and a lifetime of shared experiences.
A thrill seeker at heart, Tyler found exhilaration in riding anything with wheels. In his younger years it was skates, skateboards, and scooters. He then moved on to embracing the adrenaline and freedom of 4-wheelers and his dirt bike. His sense of adventure was part of his persona, seeking out the next exciting experience.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 pm on Wednesday, May 29,2024 at the Berrien Springs Methodist Church at 310 W Mars St, Berrien Springs MI 49103. Immediately following will be a Celebration of Life Service officiated by Pastor Kevin Parkins.
