Veachel Joe Ford, age 58 of Mishawaka, passed away at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center on June 8, 2022. Veachel was born February 21, 1964, in South Bend to Eddie Lee Sr. and Sheila (Yates) Ford. He attended Mishawaka High School and worked as a painter in new construction for many years until his retirement in 2018. On October 21, 2021, he married his longtime girlfriend, April Castor.
April survives, along with his son Adam Gambill and stepdaughter Kayla Castor, both of South Bend. Surviving as well is his mother Sheila Ford of South Bend and his siblings Eddie Lee (Trudy) Ford of South Bend, Tamara K. (Bill) Hardin of Bremen, Brenda (Danny Fleming) Kujawski of Edwardsburg, Lisa M. (Michael Taylor) Rouch of South Bend. Also surviving is his grandson Rohin Gambill, his brother-in-law Bill Hardin of Bremen, numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. His father, Eddie Lee Sr. and his sister Tamara K. Hardin preceded him in death.
There will be no services for Veachel, but the family asks that you remember him in your own special way. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola has been entrusted with his care.
Veachel loved to spend time with his childhood buddies. He lived life to the fullest and always knew how to have a good time. When he wasn’t working, Veachel enjoyed watching the Miami Dolphins, sitting out on the porch with his wife April and spending time with his family and friends. He loved all of his nieces and nephews immensely and his family was the most important part of his life.
