Virginia (Lemons) Jackson, age 51 of Elkhart, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Elkhart General Hospital. Virginia was born July 22, 1969 in Elkhart, Indiana to Charles Ed and Frankie Lee (Clark) Lemons. Virginia was the 7th child of seven children.
Virginia, also known as Lady V, could be remembered to most as a selfless woman. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit and kindness to others. Virginia attended Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church and Open Gate Praise and Deliverance in Elkhart. She loved family gatherings. She also liked listening to her favorite music and playing cards with family. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping and watching her favorite soap operas. Although, she was never a fan of cooking, she sure enjoyed tasting everyone else’s food (as her sister Diane would say). Above all, her grandchildren were the loves of her life, and she cherished every moment she had with them immensely.
She leaves to cherish in her memories her husband of 20 years Robert Jackson and her mother Frankie Lemons. They survive along with her children Shamara Jackson, Martreze (Katlyn Dolomon) Lemons, Raekwon Lemons, and Timainya Malone all of Elkhart, along with her stepchildren Kiran Jackson, Joann Jackson, Yasmine Rivers, Zayna Grant, Azzaria Jackson and Jacquece Franklin, all of Elkhart. Also surviving, her siblings Lula (James) Williams, Diane Lemons, and Kevin (Angela) Lemons all of Elkhart. Along with her siblings, survives 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Flora Diane, her father Charles Ed Lemons Sr., her sister Shirley Thomas, her brother Charles Ed Lemons Jr., and her stepson Devante Thomas.
Visitation will be held from 12pm-1pm Friday, March 12, 2021 at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 802 West Garfield Avenue, Elkhart, Indiana 46516. Pastor Danny T. Brown will officiate Virginia's funeral service at 1:00 pm at the church. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Virginia was a graduate of Memorial High School. She was employed as a paraprofessional in the Elkhart Community School system. Later she worked as an assembler at Kik Custom Products in Elkhart, until her illness impacted her work ability.
