Mr. Carter owned “Walt’s Little Steer” meat market in Osceola in the late 1960’s and later became the head grounds keeper at Penn High School until his retirement in 1997.  In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling with his friends in leagues, playing horseshoes at the Mishawaka Horseshoe Club, and getting together with friends and family several times a week to play Euchre.  Walt was also quite artistic and enjoyed drawing and painting pottery as well as woodworking.

He also enjoyed spending time with his family and dedicated his time to coaching his kids’ Little League teams.  He and Shirley were quite fond of their grandchildren as well and loved to have the grandchildren over often to swim and have fun.
