William Arthur “Bill” Funk, age 85 of Elkhart passed away at Elkhart General Hospital on June 16, 2022. Bill was born January 30, 1937, in Elkhart to the late Marvin and Ellen (Grieb) Funk. He was a graduate of Elkhart High School and later attended college for a short time. Bill spent the majority of his working career in door-to-door sales for Jewel Tea, and because of his warm and welcoming nature, became quite successful at his profession before leaving his sales position in the mid-1970s and enjoying a long retirement.
He is survived by his sisters Roberta Honeywell and her husband David of Leechburg, Pennsylvania and Julie Croy of Elkhart. His brother, Walter Funk, preceded him in death. Surviving as well are many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews of whom Bill was very fond.
There will be a graveside service at Carlton Cemetery in Elkhart at 3:00 pm Tuesday, June 28, 2022. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Osceola has been entrusted with his care. A livestream of his service will begin prior to the start of the graveside service in the video box below.
As a child, Bill and his sisters loved playing outdoors and his love for nature never faltered. As an adult, he enjoyed taking long walks, hunting and fishing, and watching wildlife in his backyard. Bill also loved animals of all kinds and was especially fond of his Short Hair Pointer, “Thunder.”
