William "Bill" Greene

William “Bill” A. Greene, 70, of South Bend, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024. He was born Christmas Day, December 25, 1953, in Erie, PA to the late Allen and Barbara (Bollinger) Greene and later married Paula Perry who preceded him in death on June 17, 2021.

Surviving are their children. Daniel (Alicia Smith) DeCook and Erika Lymburner, both of South Bend. Grandchildren Tyler J. Lymburner of Carmel, Alexander Lymburner, Daniel Jr., Courtney DeCook, and Destiney Atkins all of South Bend. Bill leaves behind his siblings, Tim (Pam) Greene of Cincinnati, OH and Cindy (Bruce) Davis and Lawrence Greene, both of Louisville, KY as well.

Bill, a Lincoln Tech of Indianapolis graduate, co-owned and operated Lab Auto Specialists for many years, building a reputation for quality service before eventually retiring to embrace more time with his family. Weekends were often filled with outdoor activities that brought him joy, including camping trips and family adventures to Yogi Bear Park. Bill cherished taking his grandkids to local farmers' markets, where he enjoyed selecting fresh ingredients for the delicious gumbo and chili he loved to cook and share with those closest to him. His passion for racing led him to either watch or attend the Indy 500 each year, a tradition he rarely missed. Bill owned a prized muscle truck, which he proudly showcased at classic car shows, earning several awards over the years. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him close.

A time to celebrate his life is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 1 from 5-7pm at Cruz Family Funeral Home, with a service on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 11, friends may visit an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
