William L. Kuhns, also known as Bill Jones, age 67 of Mishawaka, passed away at Memorial Hospital in South Bend on July 27, 2023. Bill was born May 7, 1956, in Amarillo, Texas. He later moved to Mishawaka and graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1974. Bill was employed by Glaval Bus in Elkhart for several years before his retirement at the age of 62.
Surviving are his sisters Beth Coleman and Cindy (Patrick) York, both of Osceola and his niece and nephews Kailey (Thom) McHugh, Kyle Coleman, and Jamie (Jennifer) York. Surviving as well are his great niece and nephew Kaelyn and Watson, and his “brother from another mother” Mark (Cheryl) Perkins of Cassopolis, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his father, William L. Kuhns and his mother NaDean (Burdick) Jones, as well as his brother, Joseph D. Kuhns-Jones.
There will be no visitation or services for Bill, and interment will be held privately at Fairview Cemetery at a later date. Cruz Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service has been entrusted with his care.
Bill was an avid golfer and played the course at Hampshire in Dowagiac, Michigan almost every weekend. Bill was also a huge fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and often attended home games to cheer on his favorite team. He also loved spending time at the Phoenix Bar and Grill in Mishawaka, where he will be remembered by his many friends for his unique style of dancing and his shoes that lit up.
Those who knew Bill will remember his friendly and outgoing personality and the ease at which he made new friends. His kindhearted spirit, sense of humor, and positive attitude will be deeply missed by those whom he loved.
